About Hynek

Hynek Mixed breed, terrier type, approx. 6 years old Hynek comes from a severely overpopulated pack-he was one of over 90 small-breed dogs living in squalid conditions in the home of a horrendous backyard breeder. Back in 2021, we had already taken in 8 dogs from this case. All were extremely shy, neglected, and had no social skills. Hynek was in a similar state. He initially went to another shelter, but socialization there didn't progress as hoped, so we offered to take him and two of his friends to give them another chance at adoption. Sometimes what works for one dog doesn't work for another, and when there are too many dogs and not enough people, it's impossible to give each the attention they need. We're not saying this to criticize another shelter or to pat ourselves on the back-we're just explaining where Hynek came from and why he's with us now. Hynek and the other two 'Three Musketeers' have now been with us a little over a month and they're doing wonderfully. They've learned to walk on a leash, come for treats, enjoy petting, and even seek out affection on their own. They are not aggressive when being handled. Hynek is the most cheerful of the bunch-he loves rolling around, bouncing playfully, and going on long walks. He is clean in the house and in calm moments, he's a cuddler and a food lover. He's also the most curious of the group. Despite his progress, Hynek will probably never be a fully 'normal' dog. He may always be prone to fear, panic, and attempts to flee. In the beginning, he'll need to wear a trailing leash even indoors, as he may not allow close contact right away. He is suitable only for indoor living-not for outdoor-only homes. He can enjoy time in the garden with supervision, but the garden must be very securely fenced. He'd do best with a confident, calm dog companion, as he has never lived without another dog. Hynek will be adopted vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and treated against parasites.
