Idaho Coahoma Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog (with pedigree) Age: 11 years Idaho spent his whole life living in an apartment with his owner, so he is fully house-trained and accustomed to being indoors in a warm, homey environment. Sadly, his owner fell seriously ill and was no longer able to care for him. She was eventually hospitalized, and the family refused to take Idaho in. He was at serious risk of euthanasia. Luckily, he made it to us. In the first few days, he was very scared, but he adapted quickly to the new environment and to the people around him. Today, we would describe Idaho as a happy dog, loyal to his person, who loves to snuggle and lounge around-but who also gets excited for every walk. He would do best as the only dog in the household, ideally somewhere rural or in a quiet village. He doesn't have much experience communicating with other dogs, and living in a city with constant canine encounters would be difficult for both him and his new owner. We don't recommend Idaho for families with children-he's sensitive to handling and, if frightened, may snap to protect himself. Idaho has embraced his second chance at life the best he can, and now he just needs a loving family to call his own. Adopting senior dogs isn't very common, but we believe there's an angel out there who will make this spotted sweetheart happy again. He will be adopted vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and neutered.
