About Howdy

Howdy is a 2.5 year old (DOB9/30/22) neutered male great dane. We are looking for an experienced giant breed owner that can provide the structure and training he needs to become a confident and well behaved dog. Details: Neutered brindle/merle 130 lbs. He is an indoor dog. He is house/crate trained. Heart Worm Negative and current on monthly prevention. Up to date on all vetting/vaccinations. Leash trained with gentle leader and easy to manage when there is no outside stimuli present. He uses a basket muzzle on walks due to reactivity to seeing other dogs. Personality: Cuddly and sweet and can be very mellow and loveable. Food motivated and not know to resource guard. Currently walked 25 minutes daily. He would love more! Loves to play and gets spurts of zoomies. Will chase and catch anything in his yard (squirrels, birds, bunnies, possum). He lives with 2 other dogs, but has a lack of social skills and does not currently meet other dogs due to reactivity. We had the opportunity to test him with some unknown dogs, wearing a muzzle and he did well. He challenges our other Great Dane, neutered male 6 years, when he attempts to correct him. He does not challenge our 18 pound spayed female mix breed when she corrects him. We believe he could do well living with a buddy, with proper introduction by experienced handlers. It is very important that anyone interested in him understands his unique needs and has the experience and resources to be successful. We will screen potential adopters accordingly.
