BDRA is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charity that accepts no fees when helping individuals or other rescues. 100% of donations go directly to the care of the animals. If you'd like to help us continue our mission, please donate at: https://www.blinddogrescue.org/donate-1. Name: Playboy Age: 10 months Breed: Alaskan Husky, 50 pounds Sex: Male (neutered) Location: Panama City, Florida Playboy came from a Sled-Dog business in Colorado, they did not share full information on Playboy's condition and then into a rescue. Unable to live where he was adopted to. Vet Info: Playboy is current with vaccinations, HW-, neutered and microchipped. He has seen a Veterinary Ophthalmologist and without having an MRI the best guess is that Playboy was born with a forebrain and cerebellar congenial defect - underdeveloped brain. He is completely blind. He is also on anxiety meds. Dog Info: Poor Playboy was born into a sled-dog business and had been bullied by litter mates and the business was unable to keep him and sent him to a rescue. The business or rescue (unsure which) did not share the full extent of Playboy's issues with the current owner but the owner did work with him as best they could. The rescue is unwilling to take him back. His issues are causing a problem with the owner's community and more than the owner can take on. He needs an experienced owner that is willing to take the time with him and also allow him to be the only dog in the home. He is currently an outdoor dog with a fenced in yard. He is not housebroken or leash-trained. He knows 'Good boy', 'No' and his name. He has not had any formal training. He is a nervous boy that will be friendly with people once he grows to trust them. He does not do well with other animals because of anxiety and bad experiences with his litter mates. Due to brain issues he has 'fits' as the owner calls them where he will nip and growl at his feet and snap at the air and has a high-stepping gait. Owner will say his name as approaching him and a touch will calm him down. Owner shared his likes, dislikes and loves. He likes blankets, sticks, ropes and chew toys with textures. Squeaky toys confused him at first but he is starting to get more comfortable around them. He hates scary metal bowls, stairs, loud noises, dogs barking, plastic or crinkly toys - especially water bottles. He loves car rides, classic country music and sunshine. He will need a special owner that is willing to work with him to overcome his fears - and he is improving from where he started. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
