
A Hail Mary for Banjo (aka Max) This is a desperate plea for a sweet senior soul named Banjo. Abandoned in an apartment as his family packed up and moved on without him, Banjo was left confused, heartbroken, and alone. He was later found and taken to a high-kill shelter-terrified and trembling, not understanding what he did to deserve this. In the few days he's been there, this brave boy has slowly started to open up. He's begun to trust again-jumping into the laps of shelter staff, soaking up the love he so desperately misses. Despite everything, he still chooses love. The shelter managed to contact his former owners. These are his notes OWNER SURRENDER NOTES - BASIC INFORMATION: Banjo is an approximately 8 year old, large mixed breed, male dog. Bango was found in an apartment following an eviction with another female dog. When around strangers he is friendly and outgoing. When playing with adults he is gentle. He has not spent time in the home with children so it is unknown how he will react. He has spent time in the home with a medium female dog and he was relaxed and playful. When playing with the other dog he was gentle. Banjo has not spent time in the home with cats so it is unknown how he will react. Banjo is not bothered if someone was to touch his food treats or toys. Banjo does not have a bite history. He is housetrained. His energy level is medium to high. Other Notes: Banjo's prior owner stated that he likes to spend time on the couch. He was described as friendly playful and affectionate. When at home he likes to be in the same room as his owner. He enjoys walking on leash and he pulls moderately. He is not bothered if he is restrained, pushed off the couch, disturbed while he sleeps or his collar is touched. He likes to play with stuffed toys and rope toys. He has been kept mostly indoors and eats both wet and dry dog food. Banjo is a senior, which means he's first in line to be euthanized. There are 30 dogs on death row, and Banjo only has a few more days before his time is up. But we believe in miracles. We believe his angel is out there. Banjo is dog- and people-friendly, fully vaccinated, neutered, and house-trained. He still has so much life in him-he loves to play with toys and craves companionship.
