Meet Rocky Rocky is a wonderful one-year-old lab mix. He is gorgeous and weighs 50 lbs. Sadly, he was surrendered when his mom went into hospice care. He used to stay on the bed with her and keep her company, but when it became too difficult for her, she asked if we could take Rocky in and find him a new loving home. Of course we'd take Rocky. Making sure that her beloved pet was cared for is the least we could do to give her peace of mind. Rocky misses his mom so much. He wasn't ready to let her go and for the first week he wouldn't leave his kennel. Dogs grieve terribly, and we do our best to help them through the process. After watching the other dogs and meeting our staff and volunteers, Rocky is coming out of his shell. He is still sad and unsure, but many of our dogs have welcomed him, especially Hazel. He loves Hazel! They stop and kiss each other as they walk by. Hazel has really helped Rocky cope with his new situation. Rocky loves attention. He's very friendly. He loves everyone who walks him and plays with him. He adores walking on our forest trails and is so happy there. He accepts pets and full body scratchies. He walks easily on a leash, no pulling. He is completely house-trained. He has terrific manners. Rocky is dog and cat friendly. He'd do great in a home with another dog who can help him move past the sadness he's felt for one so young. Rocky feels deeply and is sensitive to others. Helping him be a young pup who gets to play and be carefree will be important. We know there is a perfect home out there for this precious young dog.
