https://carolinapoodlerescue.org/available-dogs/ What kind of home would be best for me? Cruz would do well in an apartment or house, but a house with a yard would be preferable. Cruz gets stressed in physically fenced in yards and will chew and pull on fencing. If you have a yard with fencing he is more comfortable when you are outside in the fenced in area with him. Cruz has some social skills, but he needs to work on them and develop others. He needs a devoted adopter who will be home with him most of the time. Cruz needs taught his basic commands and how to walk on a leash. A home with another dog will provide Cruz with a buddy to learn from and model behaviors as he develops into a good dog and life-long companion. What is my personality like? Cruz was found running the fence line of our rescue, trying to get in. He is a happy, bouncy boy, a puppy at heart. He has tons of young energy and is always on the go. Cruz needs a large backyard or lots of daily exercise and could benefit from mental stimulation when he isn't actively exercising (snuffle mats, lick mats, puzzle toys, etc.). He loves to play with anybody who will attention to him. Cruz wants his own human(s), someone who will be home with him all, or most of the day. Pets, chin scratches and belly rubs make Cruz smile. He has some dog friends here and, like all of us, has some dogs he likes and some he does not. We are not sure of how he will do with cats. Once you train and socialize Cruz it will bring out the best in him. Cruz will be a loyal companion to the human who makes him the center of his or her world. Cruz doesn't believe that's asking too much. We are certain over time he will develop into a wonderful life-long companion that will bring smiles to both your faces. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly. Cruz is happy to see people and love being love on. Other tips and tidbits: Cruz showed up at our rescue as a stray. We have absolutely no history on him. Our vet estimates his birth date to be on or about 4/1/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
