About Remington

Meet Remington (Remi) Imagine one minute being with a pet sitter thinking your mom and dad will return and the next finding yourself on death row at a high kill shelter because the people you trusted with your life, didn't come back for you. That's what happened to Remi and it just about crushed him. After seeing the defeat in his eyes, we rescued him and brought him to our no-kill shelter where he's been smothered in love and kindness. Remi is a wonderful dog. He's seven years old with the sweet face of a lab mix. He's 50 lbs. of love and loyalty. Remi is an old soul. Life hasn't been kind to him, but through it all, he's been a love with a quiet and calm demeanor and a gently swishing tail. He is completely house-trained. He walks easily on a leash and loves to stroll. He doesn't need a lot of exercise and is perfect for neighborhood walks, lunching out or sitting quietly on the porch. He seems fine with other dogs. He's never shown any reaction to other pups at the shelter. Remi loves being with his people and relishes 1:1 time. He prefers peace and quiet away from the shelter and always wants to walk in our wooded trails where he can get away and listen to the birds. He's an easy-going boy and a gentle soul. If you're looking for your best buddy and loyal companion, Remi may be just what you need. After what he's been through, he deserves a person/family who will treasure his life and protect his heart from ever being abandoned again. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
