About Scrappy

Scrappy is currently participating in our comprehensive 8-week basic obedience training program designed for dogs. Throughout this course, he will focus on mastering fundamental commands that are essential for good behavior and communication, including 'sit,' 'stay,' 'come,' 'leave it,' 'down,' and 'heel.' In addition to these commands, Scrappy will engage in crate training, which helps him feel secure and comfortable in his designated space. He will also learn leash training techniques to walk calmly and obediently by his handler's side, fostering a more enjoyable walking experience. To further enhance his social skills, Scrappy will interact with other dogs and people in a controlled environment, allowing him to build confidence and learn appropriate social behaviors. Overall, this program is designed to ensure that Scrappy grows into a well-mannered and well-adjusted companion. He will complete his training and be ready for his new home on July 15, 2025. Scrappy is a charming 1.5-year-old pup with a slinder build, weighing 37 pounds. He was surrendered through no fault of his own, and his gentle nature reflects his innate kindness. Although he starts off a bit shy in new environments, he quickly warms up and reveals his playful spirit once he feels secure. With a curious heart, Scrappy loves to explore his surroundings, bounding around with infectious energy. While he shows genuine interest in other dogs, he hasn't yet had the chance to engage in playful romps with any furry companions since arriving at the shelter. Scrappy has a good handle on house training and walks gracefully on a leash, making him a joy to walk. His eagerness to please is evident, as he can be easily motivated by tasty treats. Please note that we are not a no-kill shelter, and we must make tough decisions regarding animals who are ill or aggressive. **Adoption Fees:** - $165 for dogs under 5 years old - $100 for dogs over 5 years old - $200 for cell dogs. Your adoption fee covers vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella), microchipping, heartworm and Lyme testing, rabies vaccination, spay/neuter, and a dog license. All dogs must be spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter; if this hasn't been done, we'll schedule an appointment for you. **Payment:** We accept cash only-no checks, debit, or credit cards please.
