Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from West Chester, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Sweet little 11 year old Yorkie mix, Gracie, is looking for a soft place to land and a person to call her own. She's a gentle, cuddly girl who wants nothing more than to snuggle up in your lap, nap on a fluffy blanket, and be your loyal companion. Gracie's story is a heartbreaking one - she was brought into the shelter after being found alongside her deceased owner. Understandably, this tiny 9lb gal arrived scared and shut down, unsure of the world around her. With time, patience, and a lot of love, Gracie has started to blossom into a loving companion, and she will need an adopter who will continue to give her the patience and space she needs to truly bloom. Gracie is mostly housebroken and wears a diaper as she finishes mastering her potty skills. She's great with other dogs, cats, and even young children - although children should be taught to approach her slowly and gently so she feels safe. Gracie can be nervous if reached for too quickly, but once she feels secure, she loves nothing more than cuddling up with her people. This tiny sweetheart is healthy, spayed, fully vetted (including a fresh dental cleaning), and requires no daily medications or special diets. She's a quiet, low-key girl - a true couch potato at heart - who would thrive in a calm home with another friendly dog and a person she can bond very closely with. Gracie sleeps soundly in a cozy dog bed at night, is mostly good on a leash, and can manage stairs with ease. She's not crate trained, but she's so well-mannered that it hasn't been necessary. Gracie's simple joys include cheese, cozy blankets, and lots of lap time. Her only real dislike is being grabbed too quickly - a reminder that she just needs a little extra care and understanding.
