About Dino

URGENT!!! DEADLINE 5/2/25!!! [Case opened on 4/28/25]. LEBANON, OHIO (will drive up to 100 miles to meet). 8.5 Y/O MALE BLACK SHEPHERD/LAB. His name is ' DINO'. Background: has been with the same Shepherd Parent for 7 years. UTD on shots WITH record. Fixed. Good with OLDER kids. Good with dogs, but please take note that he does have Food Aggression and Resource Guarding. UNKNOWN with cats. House trained. Crate trained. Has mild Anemia and takes B12. Front wrist has some swelling, he did have an x-ray and it did not show anything and the swelling is getting better.. RESOURCE GUARDING . FOOD AGGRESSION . Currently on food. Weighs 80 lbs. Ok with car rides, but anxious. Loves: being pet - running in the yard - chew bones - cuddling - going on walks - chilling on the couch - playing with other dogs - balls - playing fetch - sleeping in the bed - being near his person - tough chew toys and bones. Personality: Overall, a good boy, just needs worked with. Dino is a good boy but he does have a couple of issues. As stated above, he does have Food Aggression and he does have Resource Guarding. Dino likes meeting new people. He is very intelligent and knows Basic Commands. He is okay on a leash. He has okay Recall. He is lovable and treat motivated. He likes to be close to his people at all times. The issue: Dino has bit family members over food, and also when he was given oral meds and a nail trimming. The Current Shepherd Parent has not gotten Dino the help or training that he needs, but he has potential to be an amazing companion for the right person. The Current Shepherd Parent is not willing to risk keeping Dino because she does have young grandchildren in her home. Dino will thrive best with someone who is Breed Experienced, with NO young kids in the home. Preferably NO other dogs UNLESS you are CONFIDENT that you can handle any situation that may occur due to the Resource Guarding and/or Food Aggression.;Dino needs someone who is willing to commit to helping him work through these issues so that he can thrive and be the best boy that he can be. Dino seems to be a healthy boy with many more years to live, he just needs the right home.
