I'm not like the dogs who come wagging up to greet you with smiles and kisses. I'm the dog sitting in the corner, trying to disappear. The one who flinches when someone reaches out, who trembles so hard I can't keep still. The one who, when scared enough, loses control of everything because the fear runs that deep. But I want to trust. I do. When a kind human crouched down near me, I slowly crept forward-tail tucked, body low-to sniff. I took a treat once. Just once. I tried to be brave. Before this scary place, I lived with a kind person for a week. I never let them touch me, but I ate from their hand. I didn't bark. I didn't growl. I just stayed quiet, small, scared. But I was gentle. I even got along with their small dogs, big dogs��%BD'��%BD| and even their cats. I didn't have it in me to hurt anyone. I have an open wound across my nose-maybe from trying to escape something, maybe from long-term neglect. I also have tapeworms, which are treatable. But what I really need... is someone to see past my fear and love me anyway. Please��%BD'��%BD| I need a foster who will let me hide under a blanket for a while. Someone who will celebrate the smallest wins-like a treat taken without trembling, or a single tail wag. Someone who will never raise their voice, never force a touch, never give up on me.
