About CHASE- Urgent

German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Chase is breaking our hearts. Since coming into the shelter in November, he's been quietly struggling and seeming depressed in his kennel. Video: https://fb.watch/zadHf7kDvt/?mibextid=wwXIfr&fs=e He previously had a family. He lived with three children (ages 2-9), and their surrender notes describe him as a good dog who loves to play and is very tolerant of young kids. They also said he was relaxed, playful, and tolerant around cats. Unfortunately, his family was forced to surrender him after an incident with a small dog in their apartment complex. Per the owner, Chase bit a dog that got too close and was agitating him by barking. They also shared that Chase does not like other dogs, no matter the size. Since being at the shelter, we've been able to get him into a couple of playgroups. He was playful and did well in a smaller group with social females. Based on his surrender notes, he may do best as an only dog or with an experienced/savvy handler, as we don't know how well he was socialized before arriving here.
