About Sol

Adoption Fee: $75
German Shepherd / Belgian Malinois
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Sol has been our bundle of sunshine since the day we brought her home. She is such a sweet girl that loves affection and will give it right back. She's extremely smart and a quick learner, she knows basic commands (sit, lay down, stay, etc) and I'm positive she could learn so much more. She is extremely high energy and always wanting to play. She has only been around her siblings in our home but she is very very friendly with all humans and I believe she would do well with other friendly dogs. Sol is such a good natured girl, but she does lack boundaries when it comes to her siblings. There have been instances between her and our other animals, including our senior dog, regarding her getting in their faces/space and it causing a fight to break out. While most of these instances have been minor, unfortunately back in March, her foot was broken during an altercation resulting in her leg requiring amputation. We also have her brother from the same litter and while we have tried to prevent it, they have developed littermate syndrome and we ultimately feel like they need to be separated. This amputation has not slowed her down nor changed her temperament at all. Two days after we brought her home from surgery, she was running in the backyard again and going up stairs. We had to keep her sedated just to keep her calm so she wouldn't mess up her incision at all. She does tire more easily now but she doesn't let that stop her. I know that she has a very long life ahead of her and she deserves for it to be a happy one. While I'll be the first to admit that we should have prioritized training more initially with her, we are at a loss now. It's no longer safe for us to keep her in the house with the other dogs after this severe altercation. This is a heartbreaking decision for us. We had initially tried to find another solution regarding our other dog but ultimately we believe this is the best chance for everyone to be okay.
