We started fostering Lady in February. Her owner gave her up where he brought her for grooming. We've never owned an Akita but learned they require a lot of work. It took Lady about 6 weeks to trust us and feel at home here. We brought her to dog training twice a week for 8 weeks. She walks very well on a gentle lead leash. She will eventually love to play and be patted once she trusts you, but she is reactive to other dogs in her house. I have grandchildren visit and run around the house which puts her on high alert. She's never bitten anyone but she has snapped at one grandchild when he patted her as he passed by. She deserves a good home with an attentive owner that is familiar with Akita's typical defensive behavior. We have grown to love her and will miss her greatly.
