We got Zeus during the pandemic (when he was 2) and he was a great dog for our family. He was awesome with our three kids and so gentle and loving with our (now gone) cats. 5 years later he is like a 4th kid. Hard to envision our lives without him, but we made the decision to move back to Sweden, and keeping Zeus and trying to move him with us seems incredibly challenging for him and us. Zeus also suffers from separation anxiety. We knew this from the time of his adoption but as people who worked from home, someone was nearly always with him. He had been returned to the Wake animal shelter twice before we adopted him because of the separation anxiety. If left alone longer than 2-3 hours, he will chew things up out of frustration: curtains, couches, crates and dog beds. He just wants to not be alone. That has been hard on us at times but we adjusted and loved him in spite of that. Taking him on a plane for 15 hours feels extremely cruel. We think he should stay here in NC.
