About Iris

Where do I start.. Iris is a 3 year old shepherd mix. She was found off the side of the road in a pile of brush she, and her best friend Moo, called home. Iris was extremely pregnant when she was found, but was also incredibly unhealthy and skin and bones. After allowing us to rescue her and Moo, Iris underwent emergency surgery to spay and remove her pups. Some may judge, but Iris would not have survived the delivery and neither would have her puppies. It was obvious Iris had some sort of physical trauma in her past after bringing her back to the kennels. After weeks of leash training and sitting in her kennel with her, Iris finally opened up and blossomed into the most loving girl. A month after Moo and Iris were finally comfortable in their new environment, Moo, Iris' companion, took a turn for the worst. Moo, who was older, went into liver failure and passed away. Iris was noticeably grieving for the months to follow and we allowed her to do so. During that time we had a litter of puppies abandoned to us and a baby goat who was scheduled for euthanasia we rescued. Iris didn't think twice. She took each pup and Bob, the goat, under her wing and did exactly what Moo did for her-helped them decompress in their time of need. I understand this was a long read, but it will help you understand how resilient and kind Iris is. She may be shy at first when meeting new people, but she is the most sweet soul I have personally ever met and deserves the best home.
