PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 1 year old male Terrier mix, about 22 pounds. Wishbone and his 'sister' Jenzie (adopted) were found living outside in a backyard no longer wanted by their person. Wishbone is now enjoying life as a normal dog in his foster home. He enjoys his daily walks with his nose to the ground. He will follow you about your daily tasks and lays on his pad next to you when you are sitting. Highly food motivated, we are working on loose leash walking and making nice progress. He knows sit and has a situational stay. He's so sweet after a busy day, he loves to be on your lap. He is used to a schedule and can wait for the next time to go outside to go potty. Currently, he sleeps in his crate with no problems and does some crating during the day with a little whining. He will be nervous at first, but with your guidance will become a wonderful pet. He gets along well with most dogs and humans. He is totally devoted to his person giving that person full body wiggly greetings but loves getting scratches all over from others. He's fast! So maybe a person that jogs, or a fast walker or hiker. He'd be great at agility, or other dog sports. He would enjoy another dog in the family. Would probably be too focused on a cat and small children would probably get knocked over until he calmed a bit. He loves the excitement that squirrels, bunnies, and deer bring. He is kind of gentle too and responds well to a simple ut-ut or no. He needs someone that will set limits and can reinforce all the good things he does. He needs to build confidence. Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
