About Sammy

Meet Sammy! Sammy is a 10 year old 12 pound black and tan boy looking for his forever home. Sammy is a very young 10 with lots of spunk and energy to play. Sammy is a playful boy who loves toys and balls. At times, he will even get his ball and throw it for himself. He does know how to walk on a leash and his foster mom is working on his leash manners as he will pull sometimes. Sammy gets along well with other dogs. He is a submissive boy but he will bark at other dogs when he sees them when he is on a leash going for a walk. Sammy has not been tested with cats or children. Sammy would love a home where his human would be home with him most if not all, of the time. He would love a home where he could sleep in the big bed, but he is a jumper and precautions should be taken to avoid this happening. Sammy loves to go for a car ride. He is not a fussy eater and he loves loves loves to snuggle. He loves to snuggle under a blanket. Sammy knows basic commands and is clever. He would do well with additional training. Sammy is working on his house training with his foster mom in Alabama. Like most dachshunds he needs to be monitored so that he goes outside for potty breaks at regular intervals. He gets easily distracted so he must be kept focused at potty time. He needs to be on a very clear schedule. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important.
