Onyx spent the first year of her life kept outdoors, in a crate too small for her. Consequently when she came to rescue, the prospect of going inside a house was alien and frightening to her. In her foster home, she has followed the example of her foster siblings, mirroring what they do and trusting where they go. With love, kindness and time she has discovered that indoors is actually rather lovely, and that the couch is a wonderful invention. She will now lay out with her belly pointing upwards in hopes of a belly rub. Onyx has an incredible bravery and resilience that make her an incredibly special dog. She is also very smart. She has learned how to ring the cowbell at the patio door to let her foster mom know she needs to go outside so she is fully house trained and takes it very seriously. Onyx has recently been introduced to toys, which she really enjoys playing with. She is a shy girl and so is going to take a little while to open herself up to her new people but when she does it is like the blossoming of a flower. She has come a very long way in a very short space of time. Onyx needs to be in a home where there are other dogs to show her the ropes and to give her confidence. She is an exceptionally sweet girl who is learning that life is not as scary as she thought it was. All she needs is love.
