About JULIET

Adoption Fee: $300
Chihuahua
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

JULIET is a precious 10 year old, 5.2 pound Chihuahua surrendered because her owner was being evicted and couldn't keep her. JULIET is a perfect companion dog. She loves people, gives lots (and lots) of kisses, enjoys a good back scratch, flops over without invitation for belly rubs, and is the ultimate lap dog. She will ask to be picked up and dances on your leg if you have food. She is her foster mom's shadow, peeking her little head around corners to touch base with her regularly. She wants to be where her person is as much as possible. Sometimes she acts like a puppy, rolling in her little bed and bouncing around the house and yard! JULIET gets along with other little dogs but she would be perfectly content as an only dog as long as she gets to spend a lot of time with her people. If there are other dogs in the home they should be small and closer to her age. For the most part she coexists peacefully and will curl up in a fluffy dog bed or on the sofa with the dogs in her foster home but she can get snippy if a dog gets too in her space or tries to step on her. She does not always like to share a lap but does once given gentle correction when she's grumbly. At her age and size she would be happiest in a quieter home without kids. She barks at the cat in her foster home. JULIET loves to go outside (but not alone) and generally does well with potty training. She has pee accidents here and there but if you are paying attention to her and take her out on a good schedule she will go outside to potty. She is very treat motivated! We have not tried her on a leash and a fenced yard is ideal. JULIET typically naps when her person leaves the home and greets them with her whole heart when they come back. She can be fearless, especially if there's food just out of her reach. She loves to eat! At night JULIET sleeps quietly snuggled under blankets in a dog bed right next to the bed in the master bedroom. She would like to sleep with her foster family but they have a high bed and worry about her falling off. JULIET has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, had a dental, is heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. When we got JULIET she had a lot of hair loss from fleas but it's mostly grown back in, although her ears will probably always be hairless.
