We adopted molly 6 weeks ago. They said she was good with cats but she is chasing our old cat who doesn't defend himself! She's 3yr, 49 pounds, low maintenance shiny black coat, she hardly sheds, loves to cuddle on the couch and she'd love to cuddle in bed but we have to crate her at night because of the cat. She likes her crate! Takes treats gently, rides well in the car, fine at the vet, drops toys at the door before coming in. She just finished a 6 week obedience training and has a solid sit, stay, will sit before going through a door, heel and will come if there are no major distractions like cats or dogs and you make it fun and clap. If you yell or demand she won't. She's submissive with other dogs and loves other dogs. She really needs a decent size fenced in yard to do laps and play with her toy, relax, watch the birds fly overhead and chew on sticks. She's very snuggly and is motivated by praise. When in doubt about what you want she'll sit so you can scratch her throat and give her kisses. We haven't had any contact with kids so I don't know about how she'd be but she acts interested in them. She has gotten out of the backyard a few times, our fault, we were missing some lattice under the porch and the other times the gate didn't shut all the way. So you have to very careful about that because although she hasn't run away, she runs wildly, having so much fun looking for my cat, other dogs, people etc not looking where she's going, in front of cars.. but will come back pretty quickly if you make it fun by clapping, running in the opposite direction and calling her name in an upbeat voice. She has a very sweet temperament and I wish we could keep her but it's too stressful trying to keep the cat and dog apart! We also had her DNA done with the health panel so I can share that with you as well.
