He's calm, affectionate, and wonderfully loyal- a true companion who's happiest just being near his person. Louie has been deeply loved by his current family, but recently he's started to show signs of stress around their small children. It's clear that he would be more at ease in a quieter, more serene environment where he can fully relax and enjoy the peaceful pace he prefers. For this reason, Louie is looking for a home without young kids, where he can settle into a calm routine with an adult or older teen household. He previously lived with another dog and did well with his canine housemate. While he's open to the idea of another four-legged friend, he might need some slow and thoughtful introductions to build trust. With a little patience and understanding, Louie has the potential to form a strong, loving bond with another dog. Louie is about 70 pounds, neutered, and up to date on all his vaccinations. Like many seniors, he's showing just a bit of age-related hearing and vision loss, but it doesn't stop him from enjoying his daily walks or lounging contentedly around the house. He's well-behaved on leash, though he can be selective and a bit grumbly when passing other dogs- nothing that can't be managed with a little space and a confident handler.
