About NuNu

Meet NuNu NuNu came to us from a kill shelter where he was known as NoNo, and we said Yes!Yes! to rescuing him and giving him a 'Nu' lease on life. He came with a huge fan club. You see, NuNu is a senior boy who was surrendered to animal control when his papa died and his mom did not have the means to take care of him and his siblings. On observation, the animal control could tell there was something going on with his teeth, and they rallied and donated funds to help us take care of any dental issues. We were so surprised to find that NuNu had suffered from a prior condition that resulted in his teeth all being surgically removed. Don't tell NuNu he's different though! This boy is loving, snuggly and friendly. He eats well and the vet said his gums are healthy and that cats can easily live this way. NuNu's world has been rocked but thanks to his friends at his prior shelter and his new family at Smithgall, NuNu is learning to trust and love. He's very cautious when he meets new people but all you have to do is reach in and scratch his head and he's all purrs and biscuit making. NuNu needs a quiet home to decompress, and a nice bed he can snuggle up and hide in until he's learned that he's safe. Once he has that chance, we are confident he will be the best companion ever! He likes other calm cats, but would do well either with them or as an only pet. Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don't receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
