Courtesy Posting: X URGENT- DEVORE, CA, So Cal - SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY ANIMAL CARE - ID #A816890 'MARS', an ADORABLE, YOUNG LOOKING CHOW BOY EXPECTED TO BE ADDED TO EUTHANASIA LIST IN NEXT DAY- ALREADY MADE RESCUE ONLY BEFORE HIS STRAY HOLD IS UP, A BIT SHY AND SCARED but APPEARS FRIENDLY IN VIDEOS - Please help us find a chow savvy foster or foster to adopt, and rescue asap before he is euthanized, off stray hold on 3/23. This adorable boy, fondly named Mars by the shelter, came in as a stray in somewhat neglected condition, and was noted as being fearful, and initially they could not determine his sex. However, we were given video showing him happily approaching the kennel fence and wagging his tail on 3/22. By 3/21, they were able to determine his sex, and shelter notes from 3/21 say he acts 'defensive' and notes a tucked tail and growling as many chows do when scared. Thus, they did not examine further to determine age but he looks quite young. Unfortunately, he has now been made 'Rescue only' meaning only a rescue group can pull him out of the shelter (he cannot be adopted directly from the shelter, you need to go through a rescue group) to save him. However, rescues need fosters and a place for a dog to go. We will be posting several friendly videos of Mars on our facebook page. He has no noted or observed medical issues and looks quite young. This shelter makes many fearful or shy dogs Rescue only and then makes available for euthanasia at any time. Therefore, we are desperately looking for a chow savvy home, or foster and or rescue to save Mars in time. Since rescue groups need a foster to save Mars, if you are interested in fostering, or fostering-to-adopt, please contact robinmorgan@cox.net asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist with his placement, and we can try to pair you with a rescue to help or foster or adopt through.
