Cookie is located in Greenville, NC at Pitt County Animal Services. She is estimated to be 2 years old and 50 pounds. Cookie was found as a stray that found herself on someone's front porch. Cookie was dog friendly when she arrived at the shelter. Meet and greets are encouraged. Cookie is treat-motivated and wants to please. She will sit on command. She pulls initially when she is let out of her kennel in the morning, but she quickly falls into a rhythm of heeling when asked and will walk loose-leash with good direction. Cookie and I have been on several Doggy Day Outs. She rides extremely well in the car, laying down immediately after jumping in. She has now been to two restaurants, dining on the patio with me and has had a picnic in the park. Each time, she has been patient while I ate and very socially appropriate - watching the world around her, but sitting on command when asked and engaged with me, even as bikes/scooters rode past and other dogs walked by. To my knowledge, Cookie has not met any kids since being at the shelter, but she does not jump and has never nipped at me. She's very appropriate around human food. The shelter does not cat test, but I approached two different stray cats around the shelter with Cookie. Both times she made note of the cat, but showed no interest in either one of them. Adoption fees are $135, which includes up-to-date vaccines, microchip, and spay. 1/2 of Cookie's adoption fee has been sponsored by a local rescue. I am a volunteer and have provided the shelter's phone number. Please attempt to call them first, but please feel free to use my e-mail (listed) if you have any troubles communicating with the shelter.
