About Violet

Adoption Fee: $125
Domestic Cat
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Violet was rescued from a feral colony in Lexington Park as a 4 month old. The caretaker had all their colony cats fixed, so we don't know where Violet came from. The caretaker could not afford another mouth to feed, so FCR decided to try and tame her and adopt her out. She was a little too old for taming, and eventually, her foster mom was unsuccessful in taming her. A barn home was found for her. She thrived in her new home and became super friendly with people, even allowing herself to be picked up and carried. Unfortunately, she also became very friendly with the horses and nearly got kicked weaving in and around their feet. The day came when she annoyed a mare so much with her weaving and rubbing, that the mare reared up and attempted to stamp Violet. She got away, but her mom felt it would be too dangerous for her to continue living as a barn cat. Violet has adjusted perfectly to being a housecat. She likes other cats, dogs, and people in general. Very young children might spook her, but she had an 8 yr old kid as a friend who used to ride at the barn where she lived, so we believe that age and up would be fine. Violet consistently uses her litterbox and has not had an indoor accident at all. She has a habit of finding covered spaces to sleep, like covered beds or bookshelves, which is very normal for outdoor cats moving inside. As she gets more comfortable, she will likely start sleeping out in the open more. Meet the available cats and kittens at the Petco in California MD on Saturdays 10-2 and Sundays 11-3 or at the Meow Dyer Cat Cafe in Leonardtown MD. Apply online at www.feralcatrescuemd.org.
