About Sport

Welcome Sport! This 1.5 year old, female Border Collie was found in a bad situation. A Good Samaritan offered to find her a better home and was able to get her to CCHDR. Here is what her foster reports after the first 24 hours: 'I can't count the number of times I've told people 'a dog is not it's breed' or 'not every dog is what the internet told you it would be like''|but this dog is everything the internet promised about border collies x10. She is already loyal and bonded. She is fearless, brave, and outgoing. She is everybody's best friend. Not only does she happily jump in and out of my truck but she jumped on my tractor, WHILE IT WAS RUNNING! Zero fear. She recalls well, responds to correction, knows some basic obedience, and wants to please. She's 100% happy and sociable with new people. She walks decent on a leash, and off leash she 'checks in' at reasonable intervals. When left on her own, she likes to explore, but also likes to 'check in' with her people. She is mildly food motivated, but really thrives on affection and attention. When first introduced to cats, we were worried, but she has started getting used to them. For anybody who makes it a point to be worried about a 'cat friendly' dog, she wouldn't be the right choice, but for confident cats, and pragmatic owners, so far I think it would work out ok. This dog just oozes personality, activity, and BFF.' Sport is microchipped, spayed, UTD on vaccines. She is on a ranch in Templeton, CA waiting out her time and having a blast until forever.
