Oscar is a 7-year-old LOVING and cuddly purebred Bengal once he gets to know you (and understand that you are the bringer of all things good, tasty and fun). Although he is neutered, Oscar is also dominant and seeks to bully my other 2 cats, which is untenable for all of us, including Oscar. Like all Bengals, Oscar is very sensitive to change. He exhibits both his insecurity and dominance by occasionally marking. He has had the usual battery of tests to rule out physical or medical issues. He does not have stones / crystals / urinary tract infection. Concluding that Oscar primary issue is behavioral, the vet recommended we put him on Amitriptyline, which is an antidepressant that is used in cats (off label) to treat anxiety and other behavioral disorders, including house soiling and aggression. It definitely works. However, with 2 other cats and a dog in the house, it's not fully effective in our home. We believe Oscar would thrive in a home where he is the center of attention. Ideally, you won't have other pets, and will spoil him rotten. Enclosed outdoor access would be a huge bonus as he loves basking in the sun and rolling around in the grass. We are looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home that has experience with the occasional 'behavior' that will bring him the confidence and stability to reassure him. We commit to providing any/all support to the individual or family who will help him to achieve his full Bengal cat self, without anxiety. With the adoption fee, we would provide a cat wheel, which he loves, several beds, and his pet insurance with Nationwide, which has been a life-saver. Of course, he is microchipped, so we would transfer the account into your name. If you believe you can help Oscar make his way to a happy single-cat future, please contact us.
