A female Malinois/St.Bernard mix was dumped at my mom's client's home. After some investigation, the client found out that she belonged to a relative's girlfriend. The client had zero interest in taking care of or even trying to find her a suitable home. They just expected everyone else to do it for them while she was tied up outside in a tiny cage full of broken wood and pipes, without adequate food or water. She was born in December of 2023 and is a little over 15 months old. I also believe she was being hit because she sometimes flinches when you go to pet her. She is not potty trained although she does know to go on puppy pads. I have a year old female MAS and at first they got along really well. MAS's are very high energy dogs but even Bella's energy level is too much for my dog. Bella doesn't know when to stop playing or how to play politely and my dog is starting to get frustrated to the point of snapping at her. The situation has become dangerous and very stressful. I want to make it clear that Bella is not at all aggressive. She seems to want to be friends with every living being she encounters. She just has a ton of energy and hasn't learned to be polite about playing or giving other dogs some space. The only experiences we have with cats are with the neighborhood strays. She runs up to them, tail wagging and then politely sniffs at them. She doesn't seem to want to chase or harass them. She is an incredibly sweet dog but I am starting to fear for my dog's safety. When my dog has snapped at her over the past few days (this is a new behavior from my dog) she defends herself and it hasn't been the easiest to separate them. I'm worried serious injury may happen to my dog. So the situation is becoming one where I need to find her a home a lot more quickly than I did at first. She has so much potential to be a wonderful dog she just needs the right person with the right experience to thrive. I'm not charging anything for her I just want her to find a loving home with lots of exercise and enrichment. With the proper training I'm sure she'll be a wonderful addition to any family. We are working on potty training and polite leash walking at the moment.
