Meet Valentina: The Sweetest Soul You'll Ever Meet! Valentina is a gentle, loving 2-year-old pup who is looking for a family to love on with her big heart. This 'house hippo' just wants to be loved and has really come out of her shell, showing her sweet personality in foster care. She can be a little shy at first, but with patience and kindness, she'll make an incredible companion! Valentina's Ideal Home: ' A quiet environment: City life is a little overwhelming for Valentina. She's currently in foster care in Uptown, and all the loud cars and traffic scare her. A calm neighborhood would be ideal for her. She has made a lot of progress and is doing better on walks though so she is coming around and getting more brave each day! ' A backyard: While not mandatory, Valentina would love a quiet backyard to spend time in. She has gotten a lot better going down the elevator in the apartment in foster care but ideally would love a yard! ' A canine companion: Valentina is dog-friendly and would thrive with another confident, friendly dog in the home. She recently reunited with her brother, Zeke (who is also up for adoption!), and her personality blossomed when she was with him. Having another pup by her side will help build her confidence! What Makes Valentina Special: ' House-trained: She is fully house trained and can make it through the night without any accidents. She is good at learning routines and will adjust to your schedule, whatever it may be. She had a few accidents the first week in foster but has not had any since then! ' Dog-friendly: She does best with another dog to help her feel safe and secure. She love to play and make doggy friends! ' Cat-friendly: She's in foster with a cat in the home and is very friendly and just wants to say hello to the cat. She's also very good at sneaking the cat's food-so a cat-free feeding zone is a must! ' Nondestructive: When left alone, she simply naps. She hasn't been crated in foster care at all, and has had no issues being left uncrated for up to three hours. She will, however, steal any shoes you leave laying around! ' Loyal and eager to please: Valentina doesn't know commands yet, but she listens well and is treat-motivated, making her a quick learner. ' Sleeps peacefully (with some snores!): She sleeps soundly through the night in a dog bed next to her foster's bed-just be prepared for a little snoring! Health & Future Care: ' Heartworm positive: Valentina is undergoing treatment for heartworms, and the shelter will provide medication to her adopter until she is heart worm free. She'll need to continue her treatment and stay on preventatives moving forward to ensure she remains heartworm-free. Although Valentina has been used for breeding at a very young age - she remains incredibly gentle, loving, and easygoing. She just needs time, patience, and the right environment to help her feel safe. If you're looking for a sweet, laid-back companion who will repay your love tenfold, Valentina is the girl for you. She has come SO far in just a few weeks in foster and is a very easy dog to have in the home!
