Meet Adelaide! Fostered in Lancaster, NH. Adelaide is an Australian Shepherd estimated to be about 2 years old. She is a petite 26.5 lbs and just the sweetest girl. She came to ASF as a breeder surrender. She is doing a great job working on potty training and is crate trained. If you have been looking for a 'calm Aussie', Adelaide is your girl! Adelaide is very shy when first meeting people, but with patience (and yummy treats!) she warms up quickly. After just one day with her foster mom she went into full Velcro dog mode! She loves cuddles or just curling up at your feet. She doesn't give her love away freely, but once you earn her trust you will see just how special she is! Adelaide is very dog confident and loves to run and chase her foster siblings. We think she would do great in a home with another confident dog to help her overcome her shyness with people. Like most dogs, Adelaide really loves her food and doesn't want to share it with her foster siblings. She does best being fed in her crate. Adelaide is food motivated and a very fast learner. So far she has shown perfect recall on a long line, she is working on 'place', loose leash walking, 'wait', and she knows 'sit'. Adelaide rides perfectly in the back seat of the truck. She has gone to work with her foster mom and settles right down on the office floor. Adelaide is nervous in new places or busy areas. She can be skittish around vehicles and was afraid to walk down the street when her foster mom took her into town, but we are confident that with some time and patience she will be able to work through these fears. Adelaide really loves to be with her people, so sometimes barks/cries to get out of her crate if she thinks she's missing out on fun. Her foster mom has found that a quick training session before crate time really helps her settle down. It also helps to have her crate in a central location. If she can see you, she's happy! Adelaide has not been kid tested, but we think she would do fine with dog savvy kids or kids age 10+. She is up to date on vaccines but will need to be spayed. The ideal home for Adelaide would be in a quiet neighborhood with preferably a fenced yard, or with very diligent owners who will teach her solid recall. If you're looking for a brewery dog, Addie isn't the one just yet, but if you want a best friend for trail walks and lazy couch days, that's where she shines! Adelaide is just the sweetest girl and is ready to have a family of her own to love! Here is the app: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $50 REFUNDABLE spay deposit that will be refunded upon proof of spay and a $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new fuever family.
