About Sammy

Chihuahua mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Single 4-legged loveable curmudgeon seeking single 2-legged companion of a similar mindset. Sammy is a 5-year-old, 15-pound male chihuahua mix who has a black and white perspective on life. Forget about a negotiable gray area with this independent dog. Despite his little-man syndrome, Sammy is sweet and his desires are rather simple. He needs just one human, lady or gent, with a quiet home who can appreciate his feisty and quirky nature. First things first. Don't expect Sammy to dress in cute sweaters, play with kids or other pets, be picked up, go in a crate, or be the life of the party. Nope, nada, nyet, no way. However, Sammy gets very attached to his one person. He will jump up on the couch or bed for snuggles, and after he's had his fix (even if you haven't), he'll jump back down and carry on. There's just one rule to a great relationship with Sammy! Let him initiate any love and affection. A bumpy road in life likely made His Highness a little offbeat, but light-hearted people like his foster mom focus on his many good traits. He likes to run around the house and ensure everything is in its place. He loves toys and is really good at amusing himself. He also loves taking walks, going on car rides, and spending time in the yard. Not a dog who needs fussing over, Sammy is low maintenance and likes to eat and sleep in peace. His new home will have one adult who will let him be who he is, eye rolls and all. He finds comfort, trust, and predictability with a single person, just don't force anything on him. He needs space and understanding, something his previous owners failed to give him. If you're the dream person Sammy's been waiting for, please apply to adopt at nguar.org/adoption-application.
