Hutch is an absolutely amazing dog and we are heartbroken that we need to rehome him. The reason we are unable to keep home is because, despite constant efforts to get him used to being around a cat, he has shown us that he just absolutely can not be in a home with a cat, and we need to prioritize our cats safety. Hutch LOVES people. His favorite person is our 2 year old daughter, who he follows around and takes naps with on the couch. He has always instinctively known to be gentle with her. Hutch has high energy, but when playtime is over he just wants to snuggle on the couch. He loves Frisbees and rope toys, and no stuffed animals are safe with him. He is not crate trained but he regularly stays at home on his own without any issues, he mostly likes to sleep on the couch while we are gone. He needs a big yard to play in, but he can not be left outside because he needs to be warm and cozy. Hutch knows many commands but we are still always working on manners. Sometimes he still jumps up on people, but he has gotten much better. He has developed leash reactivity when he sees large dogs while on walks, and this has been a constant work in progress and will continue to be something that needs to be worked on. Off leash, however, he has never shown any aggression towards other dogs. Hutch is an amazing pet and we love him so much. It just must be emphasized that he can NOT live with cats under any circumstances. If you feel like you might be the right fit please reach out!
