Looking for the Right Home for Loretta. It's with a heavy heart that we've decided to find a new home for Loretta. She's an incredibly sweet and sassy girl, but a high-maintenance, strong-willed, dog who needs a different lifestyle than we can provide. We've tried everything: training, positive reinforcement, bark collars, crate training, and more, but ultimately, our home environment just isn't the right fit for her. Loretta is a sweet girl with a lot of personality, but she thrives on a structured routine, especially when it comes to potty breaks. While she enjoys some active play, she's actually very content just relaxing with her person most of the time. However, she does need consistent potty breaks every hour or so to avoid accidents, and if she isn't let out regularly, she will go inside. She's also incredibly independent, she does what she wants with little concern for rules, so she needs someone patient and experienced in working with dogs who have a mind of their own - someone who has the time to supervise her constantly. Energy & Behavior: In short, she's high maintenance. Loretta is very vocal and extremely strong-willed, ignoring every bark deterrent we've ever tried. While she isn't overly energetic and enjoys lounging with her person, she needs a structured potty routine to avoid accidents. She's also a bit of a troublemaker when left unsupervised. She has a habit of jumping on tables, getting into trash, and stealing food. That said, she is incredibly tolerant of all people and animals and wouldn't hurt a fly. The only time she gets a little pushy is when she knows someone is leaving the house without her - she will bark and lightly nip at clothing, ankles, or hands in protest. This isn't aggressive or harmful, just her way of expressing frustration. Best Home Match: A retired person or couple who is home often and can provide structure and frequent potty breaks. A family with the time, patience, and experience to train a strong-willed dog. A secure yard where she can run freely. No small children - not because she isn't great with them (she absolutely is!), but because she requires more attention than we can provide in a busy household with little ones. We are a family with small children and feel that Loretta would thrive in a home where she can get the focus and structure she truly needs. Health & Care: Vaccinations & Prevention: Loretta is currently past due on all vaccinations and heartworm prevention, so her new family will need to get her up to date. Medical Conditions: No known health issues - she is otherwise a healthy dog. Grooming Needs: She is professionally groomed every 4 weeks to trim her paws and rear, as she sometimes gets poop stuck in her fur if it grows too long. Keeping up with grooming is important for her hygiene. Rehoming Fee: $250 - We are asking for a good-faith rehoming fee to ensure she goes to a home that can properly care for her. Conclusion: We love Loretta, and this decision has not been made lightly. Our top priority is finding her a home that truly understands her needs and is fully prepared for the commitment she requires. The last thing we want is for someone to be drawn in by her adorable face, only to realize months later that they aren't equipped to handle her. That's why I've been very intentional in being as transparent as possible in this post - Loretta is not high energy, but is HIGH MAINTENANCE.
