Puko is a very sweet husky mix with a sad story. He was neglected by his prior owner, severely malnourished, chained to a tree, and living in unsafe conditions. That owner signed Puko over to his Good Samaritans who have since had him vetted and are working hard to help him overcome his history. Despite his history, Puko is not at all aggressive. In fact, he will cower when unsure and as he is still learning to trust, he will need a patient and understanding foster/family. His Good Samaritan writes, 'While we love him, each of us has a home full of our own dogs and we can not keep him. He is afraid of many items, as he can not see them and we are realizing he will need rehabilitation to not only recover from starvation, but also the fear of not being able to see. We feel strongly he needs to be with a rescue, home or foster who knows how to manage this disability and provide a home where he could thrive.' Name: Puko (Poo Koh) Age: Birth year 2022, 3 years old Breed: Husky Mix (currently 45 pounds) Sex: Male, neutered per Good Samaritans Location: Fulton County GA Vet Info: Per his Good Samaritans, Puko is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. He currently weighs about 45 pounds, but should weigh about 60 - 70. Dog Info: Thanks to his Good Samaritans, Puko now knows that people can be gentle and kind. He's making progress, such as being able to go from one surface to another, and soon he'll be working on leash training. His Good Samaritans write, 'we are working on putting weight on him, loving on him, and trying to allow him to simply love life. He can chase the ball, see slightly out of one eye, and loves to give kisses and sit in our laps. He is the sweetest most loving 3 yrs old.' Puko is good with men, women, and older children, and both male and female dogs. He has never bitten or snapped and is not possessive with toys, treats, or food. Puko appears almost completely blind and as of now, the cause is unknown; however his skull is misshapen and this may be the cause of his blindness. Sadly, the vet feels it is likely something caused that to happen. We couldn't say it any better than Puko's Good Samaritan: 'Puko is the most loving kind dog who has suffered at the hands of a person whom did not care for him. He spent most of his life tied to tree with his blindness. Even with all this trauma he is the sweetest most gentle boy you will ever meet. We would love to keep him but we have many of our own dogs. We are doing all the things we need to get him on track, and find him his forever home. We are working on getting him back in shape, and making sure he is healthy, happy and loved. You can not understand how loving this dog is even after such suffering.' Please email os@blinddogrescue.org if you are interested in Puko. Please know we will ask for a vet reference. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
