Hi! My name is Wall-E, but my foster family calls me Wally, Wall-E Boy, Wall-E Cutie. I am about 8-years old, a Labrador Retriever-mix. I'm a big boy although my foster parents consistently take me on walks and give me playtime to reduce my weight. I am very curious, excited and energetic on walks, but my foster dad keeps my walk to a maximum of a mile because I was hit by a car as a puppy and now suffer from some arthritis. I had FHO surgery in October 2018 and TPLO surgery in November 2020, but I have no problem climbing stairs or running to fetch. My foster parents limit my fetch and play sessions to less than 10 minutes because they worry that I might have some pain if I play longer. (How I wish they did not think that way!!) I love playing fetch in the yard or at a dog park. If I have a ball to play with, nothing else - strangers, other dogs, cats, delivery trucks - matters to me. If I do not have a ball, I closely observe any people, dogs, trucks, etc. coming in our direction. I need to bark to make sure they don't come directly at us. My foster parents tell me it is okay if they approach but I disagree with them. I am here to protect the family and house from 'invaders' unless, of course, those invaders give me a ball and make friends with me. I get super excited about any smells and will pull my foster dad if I'm on a leash. He is a strong guy but he tells me not to pull. I listen to him and keep the leash loose and hanging but only during early-morning and late-night walks when I am sleepy. Other walks, when I am wide awake, I must pull. The best part of walking is sniffing every single smell on the way. I also tend to counter-surf. No matter how well my foster parents feed me, there is nothing as satisfying as stealing a snack from the counter. My foster family is now careful not to let that happen and my luck has waned but it doesn't stop me from trying. Luck favors the brave. Oh, did I tell you? My foster grandmom feeds me two boiled eggs around noon when my foster mom and dad are off at work. I make a puppy face when they are gone so that I get the eggs. My nails are a bit long because they weren't cut short regularly in the past. My groomer says I need to visit them every three weeks to make the clicks recede. My foster parents are very diligent about it. They don't want me to lose grip on the hard floor, and apparently such slips are not good for my arthritis. I don't like my nails being cut but I love those car rides. I will trade anything in the world for a car ride. When my dad takes the car out but does not take me with him, I cry. It is so much fun to put my head out through the window and get that wind blowing through my hair. Last weekend, my foster parents took me on a long ride to Leavenworth. There were so many people and other dogs there but I did not bark at them. I bark only when I see people or dogs in singular. I like to swim and have a life jacket but I haven't had a chance to go swimming recently. I hear there is a nice lake nearby so maybe soon. (Paws crossed!) Inside the house, I am the bestest boy. I know my toys and will play only with them; I don't chew any other items. I have heard some of my fellow dogs chew remotes, couches, etc., but that is not my thing. I am very quiet inside the house. I like to spend most of the time lying beside my foster dad as he works and takes meetings. The sounds of meetings, keyboards and TVs don't bother me. If anything does bother me, I have a special spot where I go by myself and take a nap. I will do best in a house with no other pets, and with someone who can hold me when I pull on walks. I do want to learn to walk well on a leash but those smells'|they are so enticing. Please, I need someone to teach me how not to be distracted by those temptations. I know 'Sit', 'Wait', 'Eat', 'Stay', 'Potty', 'Up' and 'Out' commands, and I am 100% housebroken. I'm a great eater and I love treats. I sleep through the night in my bed. I am also crate-trained. Overall, I'm a great pup that will benefit from continued training. Truth be told, I am super smart. In fact, I am so smart that sometimes I may play a little dumb to get extra treats! Can you blame me? ***** Adoption fee: $500 plus $35 microchip fee ***** Wall-E is being fostered in the Bothell, WA area.
