[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Hello, this is Mushu. He is a 4 year old Alaskan Malamute, Male, 65lbs (mostly hair). Mushu is intelligent, fast learner (understands sit, wait, paw, spin, nose to hand, lay down and roll over), athletic (can jump over almost anything that is not a five foot fence), and loves to run and play. He is socially hyper with people and dogs, he does not know a stranger. Mushu is Mr meet and greet, he would let anybody in your home and show them around (so not a guard dog). He is also playful with children and affectionate toward babies. This guy is not a barker but a talker and will let you know if he needs something. One way that he has learned to communicate with us is to grab the water bowl and carry it to the hard floor and drop it to let us know he needs water. Like I said, he likes to run. If you are a runner or like long walks, he is your guy (I have a Kong harness with bungee leash that you can strap around you for this kind of activity). If you want a dog that wants to be with you and cuddle, again, he is your dog. Before we learned that my wife was pregnant, Mushu would sleep with us in our bed, and we could leave the house open to him, and he would find different places to sleep around the house but would mostly, I feel like, come full circle to us. The more access and liberty we gave him to our home, the more comfortable he was. Since our daughter was born, such liberties are not there due to her being allergic. This leads me to why we want to find a different home. I want the best for Mushu, I don't want to see his best years wasted. He has a lot of potential to be a great companion and maybe more if someone has the time and money to give him the training and care he needs. My wife and I do not have the time or money, unfortunately. He has some cons with his health. I think mostly due to anxiety and stress. Those cons are sensitive stomach and seizures. The stomach issues and seizures I think can be resolved with a more healthy and expansive diet and social and physical interaction. Both of those cons are not super frequent, which may happen for a short period of time every few months. Having an accident in his kennel, like I said, can be avoided by diet and giving him necessary attention but also paying attention to his cues to go outside. His seizures can be violent and last up to five minutes. I have recordings of these events to give you an understanding. We have spent hundreds of dollars seeing vets about it, and they could not determine a cause. I have read into it and apparently is common with the breed, but again, I think it is triggered by stress. The final thing to note is the hair, his hair sheds A LOT, but thankfully, it clumps together, so it is like picking cotton off your floor unless his fur gets staticy and then it goes everywhere. Fun fact is native Alaskan people used Malamute hair to make yarn. They call it 'chiengora', you can find videos online on how to clean the hair and make it to yarn. They say it is warmer than wool! Mushu should be taken to be groomed and bathed, probably every 3 to 6 months. We take him 'Crystal Kutz Grooming Salon' in Newport. Destiny is his groomer and always does an excellent job. It's around 100 dollars for everything. He also loves beach paws for a daycare if you need somewhere for him to stay. Mushu is in their records, and they love him! He is good for the anti-social dogs, he kinda forces them to get outside their shell. Mushu will come with an XL kennel, several harnesses and leashes, grooming supplies, toys, and a food container.
