About Mocha

Lets Welcome Mocha to the adoption floor. Mocha is a 4 year old mixed breed. She is a bit overweight due to a thyroid issues but we are addressing that. Mocha arrived to Almost Home shut down, not socializing and preferred to just hide. We have been working on trust and coming out for hugs and kisses. Mocha has a past that we can only imagine was not great. Her notes state that she was surrendered as she became suddenly aggressive in the home. We have determined that was a lie. Mocha has scars on her head and she is way to shy to be an outwardly aggressive dog. Mocha is very special and we have decided to waive her adoption fee for the right family. Mocha will not do well in a home with young children. She will need a family that will be kind, patient and understanding. Mocha wants to be loved she just needs to do it on her terms. Mocha for the first few days hid under my bed, she now goes to my bathtub to feel safe. She will however come out and give me kisses but then will go back to her safe spot. She is still unsure of outside so we take that slow and on her terms. She wants to trust but not sure how to trust. Mocha's future family will need to establish a bond with her which will require several meetings to gain her trust. She will not be an easy adoption but it will be a rewarding one. Watching her come out of her shell has been wonderful. Her life in the shelter was one where she would just sit in her kennel and she was to scared to move. When the Shelter reached out to us I said we will try and I am glad we did. Mocha is a sweet sweet girl that just wants love and needs to feel trust again.
