About Ruthie

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only. Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. My name is Dan Intagliata. I live in St Petersburg, Florida, and I am reaching out to see if someone has interest in rescuing my 5 year old Heeler mix named Ruthie. (Australian Shepherd, Collie, and Border Collie mix) This is an extremely difficult email for me to write as I love with Ruthie with all my heart. However, I've worked with 3 different trainers and given it my absolute best, but she still is not able to adapt to life in this type of urban environment. Ruthie is an absolute sweetheart with me, but she gets overwhelmed when guests come in the house and has a tendency to jump and nip them. (she does the same with the vet) I've worked with 2 different 2 week boot camps and another trainer as well. My mother and friends aren't able to visit my home unless I have Ruthie stay in another room and as a 35 year old single man, I can't keep doing this. I love Ruthie, but I'm unable to pursue some of my life goals like getting married and having a family with her in my home. I am praying that I am able to find a shelter who would take Ruthie in as feel like with the right owner who has experience working with herding dogs, she could be an excellent dog. If we aren't able to find someone to take her in, my only other option is Euthanasia which would break my heart. Please contact me ASAP. I am hoping to find a new home for Ruthie to take her to after her next vet visit for her yearly wellness check in mid April. Ruthie is extremely loving and has tons of personality in the right environment. Her ideal home would be a home with 1-2 owners. She is a good protector of her owners.
