About Gemma

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 3-year-old female Chihuahua mix, about 9 pounds. Gemma came into the rescue quite thin and has been gradually putting on weight. First and foremost, she is a people dog! She is friendly to everyone and just wants to be near her people or on their laps. She is also very playful with our other dogs. Gemma's good-natured personality makes me think she would do fine as an only dog or with other dogs. She loves to be outside so a fenced yard would suit her just fine! And while she acts like she doesn't have much experience on a leash, I've been able to walk her in crowded environments (other dogs, people etc.'|) with no issues. She's a little less barky than our other Chihuahua mixes (we have 3) and also seems to shed a little less than they do. She likes to be in the car and is also fine with being crated. We typically crate the dogs at night, and she sleeps through the night with no issues. Cats are unknown and respectful kiddos are cool. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
