About Duke

Meet Duke Duke, a 1 to 2 year-old short-haired dachshund mix, was found running the streets in Texas without a home or anyone to care for him. He is initially very timid whenever he meets someone new, probably because of the harsh life he had before finding a soft place to land at Almost Home Dog Rescue. Once he knows that he can trust you, Duke will be your best friend. Cuddly and loves to give kisses. Duke is very sweet, loving and affectionate, gets along with dogs and will do best with a doggie companion to show him the ropes. He is the perfect work companion, laying next to you while you work. Duke is definitely loyal to whoever he bonds to. He is may be scared of new surroundings but will acclimate to them. Just learning about a leash and getting better. Duke is fully housebroken (he has never had an accident) and he lets foster know he needs to go out by staring out the back door or pawing at it gently. Duke is looking for a forever home where he can learn to trust and be loved. He will fit best in a quiet home with a single person, a couple, or a small family with a dog and without a lot of commotion or loud voices. Calling, emailing and using the 'contact us' link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. The premium adoption fee is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. All of our dogs will be microchipped. Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration.
