Tacoma is not your typical German Shepherd dog. She is thought to be around 2 years old, weighing only 50 pounds. Tacoma was born and raised on a disgusting puppy mill farm where she never received a kind human touch or any kind of compassion or care. She was forced in confinement and to breed and have puppies of her own only to have them taken away from her to be sold. She came to us very scared, timid, depressed, confused, filthy, extremely malnourished, and had an ear infection. We are so happy to introduce her to the sunny side of her life! She is putting her past behind her and is learning to trust humans for the first time in her short life. Tacoma is still very timid when meeting new people, around loud noises and sudden movements. She feels safe and secure in her crate and often goes there on her own to rest. She has been very behaved around her foster family dogs with no aggressive behaviors and is starting to initiate playful gestures with them. She knows her new name, uses the doggie door to go outside to do her potty business, and even holds it until she is let out when the doggie door Is closed! She is a slight toy and shoe fanatic... she takes them all outside one by one if given the chance. She takes corrections well and is easily re-directed. Although she is still very timid and scaredshe is eager to please and is starting to trust us. She has given us some tail wags and lets us give her pettings. She really enjoys her ears and head scratches and rubs. Tacoma is a sweetheart and is very gentle when taking treats from a human hand. She has learned so much in so little time and is finally able to be a loving pet and companion. She is eating good and is starting to gain some noticeable weight. Tacoma appreciates her toys and is not destructive with them. She is very grateful to be in a home where she can learn to be a dog and receive all the love and care that she truly deserves. Tacoma will need a confident dog in her new home to help her feel safe and secure. If you are interested in giving Tacoma a forever loving home, go to www.pawpatroldayton.com/ adopt to apply!
