About Arlo

Hi, my roommate is a vet and her co-worker found a dog running on the side of I-40, near Newton Grove, NC on February 27th. He has no microchip and we haven't been able to track down an owner. We've been taking care of him since he was picked up. He is an incredibly sweet and easygoing dog, but we both have unpredictable schedules that are not conducive to having a dog long-term. Here's more about the pup, who we've been calling Arlo: Meet Arlo! He is a ~1 YO male intact Australian Cattle mix with a heart of gold. He is the perfect mix of couch potato and adventurer! He loves to snuggle on the couch, but is always down for a hike. Mostly he just wants to be by your side! He rides great in the car, is potty trained, walks well on the leash (no pulling!), and is not reactive to other dogs or people. He warms up quickly to new people and environments and settles well in public. He would likely need an introduction to any other animals in the home prior to adoption. He also loves to be outside but is calm and quiet indoors. He's already received his first set of shots, deworming, and is on flea/tick medication. He was heartworm positive at the time of finding him, but is asymptomatic and his chest x-ray is clear. He has already started treatment and will just need consistent heartworm prevention medication every 30 days for the next 10 months (~ $30-40/month). We plan on neutering him after the first month of heartworm treatment is finished. Please reach out if you are interested in meeting this sweet boy!
