***WAYWARD RANCH IS CLOSING AND WE NEED TO REHOME ALL OF THE ANIMALS IN OUR CARE BY JULY 2025!!*** Looking for the perfect companion horse who will get along with literally anybody and will try her best to keep them out of trouble? Jazzy's your girl! Jasmine came to us as an owner surrender when he owner no longer had time to care for her. They didn't remember how old she was, what breed she was, or even where they bought her! Based on her teeth we believe her to be a senior 25-30 years old and our best guess on breed is that she's a (short) thoroughbred or thoroughbred mix. At her age she has expected arthritis, which is well managed with Equinox and supplements to where she is comfortable as a companion horse with occasional trail riding. If an adopter wanted to do more under saddle work with her shed likely need further joint maintenance, but she's quite content with life in a field with occasional adventures through the fields! Jazzy also has skin allergies and is on allergy meds year-long (which typically cost about $50 a month) and does best covered head to toe in fly gear (which she's very kind to) or goes onto night turn-out during the height of bug season. The good news is that Jazzy is literal perfection, and eats all of her meds in her grain without any issue whatsoever. She's also perfection because she's the sweetest, sassiest old lady who was obviously loved and taken care of somewhere in her history. She loves attention, especially a good whither scritch, but will wait patiently for you to notice her. She's never pushy and can be trusted with even our greenest volunteers. She also loves doing liberty and that kind of groundwork - she's who we use to teach it to our new staff members because we can trust that even if the human messes up or sends the wrong cues, Jazzy won't do anything wrong. If you are looking for a baby-sitter who you can trust to behave herself and don't mind having to add a few meds into her grain, then Jazzy could be the girl for you and you should fill out an adoption application for her on our website, waywardranch.org, or reach out if you have any questions! We don't have any set adoption fees, but do ask that a donation be made at the time of adoption, and for Jasmine we are asking for a donation of $500.
