OWNER IS 82, HAS NOT SPENT A LOT OF TIME W LUNA WHO IS ANXIOUS AT TIMES (please no negative comments, owner is at least asking for help to rehome) Please help us find a chow savvy, new home for Luna who was adopted at 8 weeks old by an elderly woman. Her daughter has since reached out to us to find Luna a new home. We understand Luna has been anxious since a puppy, and has not bonded with her elderly owner who does not walk her, nor spends little time with her. More recently, grandchildren playing with Luna in the yard, possibly unsupervised, said Luna grabbed and bit them, although no skin was broke. Videos recently provided to us show these same children playing with her and rubbing her belly, following the incident. However, Luna is afraid to trust new people and will likely bark and growl at strangers, and it is recommended one go slow with her. We feel Luna needs more socialization in general, and might also benefit from some training the owner cannot afford. Luna oftentimes retreats to her crate and may have spent a lot of time in it. We are now looking for a chow experienced home who is willing to be patient, and can work with Luna on further socialization. Chow experience and or with similar dogs is a must. If you have another dog or pet, a meet and greet is strongly advised, as we do not know how she may do with other pets, but the family thinks she should be an only dog. Sorry, we do not do transport to private homes unless a rescue is involved due to risks of a home or dog not working out for any reason. All adopters will be asked for a home check (which may be virtual), an application, a vet reference and an adoption contract.
