Mia is the sweetest dog in the world and re-homing her is one of the saddest things my wife and I have ever had to do. We rescued Mia November of 2023 when she was 4 months old. The adoption agency said that she had been abandoned with her Mom at a dog sitter, so we assume that she had some trauma when she was young. Since then she has had a lot of positive milestones. She was a regular in dog day care, has passed three different dog group training classes, and has done individual training. She is a very active dog. We take her on long walks daily, and she has just started doing agility which she enjoys. She's very smart and learns things quickly. She loves puzzle toys, playing fetch, and belly rubs. While she is a sweet and wonderful dog, we worry that we are not providing her an adequate environment. She is a very high energy dog and is very anxious. She chases shadows and barks excessively at other dogs. She takes anxiety medication daily. Recently she has been having issues with reactivity and was asked to take a break from her dog day care. We have been working on training, but recently she bit someone in our household. Unfortunately that is not something we can handle in our household. She had some slight reactivity when she was a puppy surrounding food and the kennel, but that had gotten a lot better until recently. We think she would thrive in a household where she could run around in a backyard and be around small groups of other dogs that she gets to know. She can be frightened of other dogs when she first meets them, which also appears sometimes as aggression. We have family with dogs that she plays well with and has had no issues with as she's gotten to know them. Since we've adopted her, she has not lived with other animals or children, so we cannot speak to how she would be with them. If you could meet her, you would realize that she is a sweet dog that needs a second chance. We just want the best for her and know that she could thrive in a different environment. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccines. We can provide vet records when needed.
