Duke and Penelope lost their person when she passed away unexpectedly almost 3 weeks ago. They had no one to care for them after and were at risk of going to a kill shelter. They are currently in a temp foster home. Duke is between 5/6 yrs old. Penelope is between 4/5 years old. Duke is neutered/Penelope is not yet spayed (but will be soon). They are both grateful dogs and even through the recent trauma they've experienced, they have been great in a foster home among people and animals they have never met. They have done great with other animals but Duke has shown some guarding behaviors over food and his bed (growling, nothing physical). THe will need to be fed separately from other animals (he has done well eating with Penelope). He does well when his bed is in an enclosed crate/kennel. They are both kennel trained and will go in on their own. They do great with other dogs who are not aggressive or dominant. They have been indoors their whole lives and have great house manners (with exception to some begging at meal times). They are used to being allowed on furniture. They were raised with cats and would do well with a cat who likes dogs (no hissing/slapping). They love to go for rides in the car. These babies just want someone to love and someone to love them. They have been together since Penelope was 8 weeks old and Duke was just a few months old, they are bonded and need to stay together. They have lost so much already, they cant lose each other. The adopter needs to own their home (to prevent having to rehome later due to housing issues). There will need to be a signed and notarized agreement that should the adoption not work for any reason, they will be returned to me or any other potential homes will be approved by me.
