About Gunner

Gunner is a fully intact adult male Rottweiler, approximately 8yo. He was brought to me a couple years ago, so not sure exact age, but he is well into adulthood. Suspect he was abused at some point because poor boy is a big scaredy cat. He keeps his distance and will growl and 'talk' a lot when a stranger first breaches his domain (making him a great guard dog!), but once he realizes there is no threat he quickly warms up and becomes your best friend - meaning you must always be touching and prepared for plenty of heavy lean in head snoots when you have the audacity to stop petting him. He eats & drinks too fast, he's stronger than most crates or tie-out cable lines, and he will mark every bit of territory his stream can reach as his own (NOT house broken no matter how much we've tried so be prepared with XL wraps). He also seems to believe every small and fluffy creature in his line of sight is his own personal play thing to chase until he runs out of breath (which doesn't take long). This is the sweetest, most attention-seeking, loving boy I've ever known and the best cuddler on the planet. It breaks my heart to rehome him but due to my own health issues limiting energy and mobility I can no longer adequately protect the interior of my home from his marking much less care for him the way he deserves. We don't have a fenced in yard or any other way to keep him safely contained when the weather isn't ideal or during the night time. I am desperately hoping someone with a few days worth of patience, an exceptional kennel, and a giant heart for this beautiful breed will take him home to their spacious property where he can roam free and happy the rest of his years. I will require references, an interview, and a fee to consider your inquiry if interested in adoption. Must be willing to love my boy as much as I do.
