LOCATION: Pflugerville, TX DOB: 01/07/2022 Meet Shirley Temple, a two-year-old fawnaquin Great Dane with a heart full of resilience and a spirit that refuses to quit. After everything she's been through, she's finally starting to feel like herself again, and now she's ready to share her love with the right family. Shirley is a gentle giant with a soft side, and she's discovered the joy of making cozy little spots for herself by collecting and carrying her blankets and stuffed animals. One of her favorite things is her beloved orange dog stuffy, a gift from the shelter staff when she left, which she proudly carries everywhere she goes. Shirley thrives on affection, cuddles, and playtime, and she's always up for a good game of fetch. When she's not playing with her favorite stuffed animals, you can find her having a blast with her favorite 'toys'-uncooked penne noodles and strawberries. Don't be surprised if she eagerly takes a drink from the water hose whenever she gets the chance! She's a playful soul who loves other dogs and is always ready for a little fun. While she met a cat at the vet's office and was well-mannered, she'd prefer a home with no small pets. Shirley is still figuring out some of the basics of house life, like potty training, but she's making great progress, even if she has the occasional accident. She's also getting the hang of crate training and is starting to learn the ropes of leash walking. Shirley can be a little shy around new visitors, but once she gets a whiff of treats, she'll be your best friend in no time. With some time, patience, and lots of treats, she's becoming more confident and comfortable in her surroundings. Kids over 5 would be ideal, as she can get a little hyper at times. Shirley's story is one of strength and survival. She was found pregnant on the streets in January, and after an emergency C-section, she gave birth to 12 puppies, all of whom sadly didn't survive. Despite the heartbreak, Shirley's resilience shines through every day. She made a long journey to her foster home, where she began her recovery, and now, after all she's been through, she's ready to find a family who will love her the way she deserves.
